New Obsession...

Family History. Yep, I am feeling pretty old because of my absolute cheesy love for family history. Dave and I have been going to the family history class at church. Every week they give us a challenge. We haven't been the best at doing them, but I am determined now.

My mom's side of the family is a little sketchy...or "shady" as my dad says. Her dad's family is a bit elusive. I was researching my grandpa's dad, James Downing. I knew he was born in Conna, Cork, Ireland, and a kind of date 12 or 13 of July 1871 or 1872. So I googled Conna, Cork, Ireland. Found a link there for famiily history. Emailed the guy. Pa Barry responded the next day giving me the specific date of James' birth and said that he would put together some other bits of information including sending a copy of his birth certificate! It was so fulfilling--like being on the mission again. It's like being a detective. I am anxious to find out more about my family.

Spaz Uno

The other weekend Dave and I got together with two of his good friends and their wives (both are dancers at BYU...convenient for the boys to pick us out!) We had dessert and played games. We ended with Spaz Uno.



For those of you who have not played the game here are the rules. But we spiced it up a little. When a wild card was put down we had to stand up turn around and slap our hand down on the pile. The last one to slap got all the cards. 6 adults trying to get up, spin, and get down as fast as we could was pretty funny. Somehow the 3 dancers were the worst ones. For us it was about form!!! If anyone's ever up for the challenge let us know.

Valentines

Dave and I decided that for Valentines Day we wouldn't get each other anything, but that we would go buy a painting of the Salt Lake City Temple for our home.



It's not often that we find things quickly that we love. But this was perfect for our home and for our little nook in our entrance. (Not to mention the reference it has to King Benjamin's address having our doors to the temple--thanks seminary teacher husband!) It is a great addition to our home and a great sentimental Valentines present.
