Looks Easy Enough, Doesn't It?

Two people getting off a ski lift. Ya' lift your skis a little, gently place the skis on the ground, give a little push off the chair, and stand. That's easy for you to say. Dave and I went skiing at Sundance on Friday. I haven't been skiing in years and years and I have never been to Sundance. So we're going up the first lift of the day and headed to the "Back Mountain." I got off one lift successfully, and then you get right on to the next. All was fine and dandy. As Dave and I approached the top of the mountain we got our ski poles already and prepped ourselves to get off. Then...I blinked. That's the only explanation that I have! Dave was there one second then he was gone and I was headed down the mountain! I got to ride the ski lift down the mountain and look, wave, and say hi to all those going up the mountain. Daves brother and sister, Danny and Alicia, were headed up and I gave them a little hollar. Alicia called me an idiot. I understand.

If you have ever been on the lift that takes you to the "Back Mountain" you may know what I am talking about. The, for lack of a better word, "exit ramp" drops off really quickly. So in my moment of blinking I literally had missed my opportunitiy and would have had to jump 4 feet or so. The guy in the booth who should have stopped the lift was sleeping...not literally, but he was looking down at his hands and not paying attention. Dave had to yell at him 4 times, waving his hands for the guy to finally look up. Dave told the guy that he was sleeping and the ski lift controller man said, "Well, that line should have caught her skis and stopped it." Dave said, "no you were the one that should have stopped it." So the last picture poses the question, what DOES a ski lift mechanic do?

It was possibly the best way to start out our day. I laughed pretty hard on the way down. I was, however, a little nervous to get off the next time around--but I did it! One of our favorite past times as we waited for family was to watch all the other people fall as they "exited" the ski lift. The rest of the day was a blast. A perfect way to end our two week break.

  1. Remember when we went skiing in High School? I think we spent most of the time laughing at other people when they crashed...or maybe it was just you laughing at me...

    Oh, the good times!

  2. Those were good times. Sadly enough I think we spent most of our time every where laughing at people!
