By Request...

I often have people asking me when I am going to dance so they can see my great talent. Well, here is a clip off of youtube. That's right, I made it on youtube. Amazing isn't it.

This is 5 teachers from Timpview doing a student set piece to "Single Ladies." We performed it at an assembly. Enjoy!

New Obsession...

Family History. Yep, I am feeling pretty old because of my absolute cheesy love for family history. Dave and I have been going to the family history class at church. Every week they give us a challenge. We haven't been the best at doing them, but I am determined now.

My mom's side of the family is a little sketchy...or "shady" as my dad says. Her dad's family is a bit elusive. I was researching my grandpa's dad, James Downing. I knew he was born in Conna, Cork, Ireland, and a kind of date 12 or 13 of July 1871 or 1872. So I googled Conna, Cork, Ireland. Found a link there for famiily history. Emailed the guy. Pa Barry responded the next day giving me the specific date of James' birth and said that he would put together some other bits of information including sending a copy of his birth certificate! It was so fulfilling--like being on the mission again. It's like being a detective. I am anxious to find out more about my family.

Here's James' birth certificate from 1871.

Sorry it's on its side

Isn't this the coolest thing? Oh I love technology.

Spaz Uno

The other weekend Dave and I got together with two of his good friends and their wives (both are dancers at BYU...convenient for the boys to pick us out!) We had dessert and played games. We ended with Spaz Uno.

For those of you who have not played the game here are the rules. But we spiced it up a little. When a wild card was put down we had to stand up turn around and slap our hand down on the pile. The last one to slap got all the cards. 6 adults trying to get up, spin, and get down as fast as we could was pretty funny. Somehow the 3 dancers were the worst ones. For us it was about form!!! If anyone's ever up for the challenge let us know.

I have video of it...I'll try putting it on here later.

Valentines

Dave and I decided that for Valentines Day we wouldn't get each other anything, but that we would go buy a painting of the Salt Lake City Temple for our home.

It's not often that we find things quickly that we love. But this was perfect for our home and for our little nook in our entrance. (Not to mention the reference it has to King Benjamin's address having our doors to the temple--thanks seminary teacher husband!) It is a great addition to our home and a great sentimental Valentines present.

Oh The Entertainment from Youtube!

How true it is! I had surgery in my mouth and was able to take those blessed drugs too. Annie made fun of me before I went into the surgery because of how I walked and the movement of my head--the same circular pattern as our new friend David from this video. I cried during the surgery and kept apologizing to the people working on my mouth.

I still wonder "is this real life?"

Anybody else with good stories from when you've had to take drugs?

A Year Ago Today...

January 25, 2007 Dave asked me to marry him. We like to re-live that night purely for humor sake. In a nut shell, the highlights included: Dave running over a cat, Dave dropping the ring in the snow, and Dave falling on his face twice. We have recorded it in great detail, but wanted to share it with everyone through pictures (we excluded getting a picture of the dead cat!).

Dave took me Ottavio's in Provo. We enjoyed a lovely dinner where Dave hardly ate any of his food and he kept staring at the accordion player.

He wanted to show me a couple of places before we headed back to his house to relax for the night. On the way to the first place he ran over the cat. We drove around the block to go back and see if it was okay. But it had disappeared! Oops.

After going to the places he finally popped the question. He got down on one knee and opened the ring box...upside down. The ring fell into the snow.

We finally found the ring...I said yes. We got in the car to go see our parents and found the car stuck. Parked on ice, the car didn't want to go anywhere. I got in the driver's seat and Dave got out to push. He began pushing and...down he went. Not once but twice!

It was a wonderful night. I am can't imagine what my life would be like without him.
Life is beautiful.

Looks Easy Enough, Doesn't It?

Two people getting off a ski lift. Ya' lift your skis a little, gently place the skis on the ground, give a little push off the chair, and stand. That's easy for you to say. Dave and I went skiing at Sundance on Friday. I haven't been skiing in years and years and I have never been to Sundance. So we're going up the first lift of the day and headed to the "Back Mountain." I got off one lift successfully, and then you get right on to the next. All was fine and dandy. As Dave and I approached the top of the mountain we got our ski poles already and prepped ourselves to get off. Then...I blinked. That's the only explanation that I have! Dave was there one second then he was gone and I was headed down the mountain! I got to ride the ski lift down the mountain and look, wave, and say hi to all those going up the mountain. Daves brother and sister, Danny and Alicia, were headed up and I gave them a little hollar. Alicia called me an idiot. I understand.

If you have ever been on the lift that takes you to the "Back Mountain" you may know what I am talking about. The, for lack of a better word, "exit ramp" drops off really quickly. So in my moment of blinking I literally had missed my opportunitiy and would have had to jump 4 feet or so. The guy in the booth who should have stopped the lift was sleeping...not literally, but he was looking down at his hands and not paying attention. Dave had to yell at him 4 times, waving his hands for the guy to finally look up. Dave told the guy that he was sleeping and the ski lift controller man said, "Well, that line should have caught her skis and stopped it." Dave said, "no you were the one that should have stopped it." So the last picture poses the question, what DOES a ski lift mechanic do?

It was possibly the best way to start out our day. I laughed pretty hard on the way down. I was, however, a little nervous to get off the next time around--but I did it! One of our favorite past times as we waited for family was to watch all the other people fall as they "exited" the ski lift. The rest of the day was a blast. A perfect way to end our two week break.
